Darla envisioned House to House, over time, after she and Oz first visited Israel in
1996. Interestingly, after hearing that we were planning a trip to Israel, without prompting or solicitation, various
people asked Darla to take a little money for them and use it to help any needy persons she might meet. The same thing
happened again in 1998 and 1999 when we revisited Israel.
Increasingly through these years, Darla longed to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families that she observed to be experiencing difficult times. Many of these dear ones simply needed a small boost to experience relief from their circumstance.
The fact that people were contacting her during this time and offering money that they requested to be used to help the needful in Israel only fanned the flames of Darla’s passion and motivation to turn her dream of an organization that could do this long term into a reality. The realization of her dream was brought closer when life’s circumstances allowed Darla and Oz to move to Israel.
Darla experienced House to House’s genesis on 1 August 2001 when it officially became a 501c3 IRS approved non-profit, charitable organization.
And House to House is now officially about people... people personally helping people!
