Many projects in the following list were one-time projects or projects with which House to House is not currently active. However, projects like those listed for the hungry have been incorporated into our ongoing project Help Them! The following past projects list gives you a better feel for the purpose and heart of House to House.
Partnering with other Service Organizations
Zichron Menachem -Project Loveable Huggable Bears, Beanie Babies, Hand Held Games
House to House collected new stuffed animals, beanie babies, and hand-held electronic games for the children
who are patients at this incredible child cancer center.
Jerusalem Orphanage - Project School Supplies
School supplies were provided for the children at the orphanage.
Kids for Kids - Project Jewelry Bead
Beads, beading supplies, and training were provided to the children –themselves victims of terror incidents – that served as
leaders and guides to newer child victims of terror. These children-leaders were trained in beaded jewelry making. Beaded jewelry making was
used as a means of therapy and relationship for children that came to the organization suffering as victims of terror incidents.
Benjamin School District - Yeres-Baum Project
House to House raised 50 % of the funds required to train approximately 200 teachers in the Benjamin School District.
A sophisticated series of training seminars taught these teachers to effectively relate to the large number of children in their classrooms
that were victims of terrorist incidents.
Susan’s House - Beads for Projects
House to House purchased beads for our many beaded-jewelry projects from Susan’s House. Susan’s House teaches
Art and Business skills to young people that are considered to be teetering on the fringe of society. Susan’s House is a great work
that attempts to realign these troubled teens with mainstream society. The special glass beads are created by the students as art; and,
are then sold teaching them marketing and business skills.
Yad Sarah - Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Project
For one year, House to House provided all of the materials, tools, and training required to teach weekly
beaded-jewelry classes to major stroke victims recovering from the paralysis and debilitation of major strokes. The students, each
overcoming their respective disabilities, became so proficient at making beautiful beaded jewelry that they began donating it to Yad
Sarah’s gift shop to produce income for this wonderful organization.
Jerusalem’s Botanical Garden - Elderly Tour Wagon Repair
The beautiful botanical garden provides a tour wagon for the elderly and disabled so they can enjoy the beautiful
facilities. The wagon broke. The botanical garden relies on donations in order to remain open. House to House is a proud repairer of the
hospitality wagon.
For the Hungry
Project Food Pantry
A local supermarket agreed to serve as House to House’s Food Pantry. After approval and fixing the monetary limit, the family
experiencing hard times could shop personally for food items at the store or in order to protect their privacy and minimize embarrassment
they could phone in their order and have it delivered to their door.
Project “Chicken Lady”
House to House, from time to time, contributes to the chicken supply of local legend Clara Hammer who distributes them to
locally poor families. Put the name Clara Hammer in your search engine to read about this Jerusalem legend and her incredible heart and work.
Project Treats
Practically every holiday in Israel is associated with a special available-only-at-that-time-of-year holiday treat. House to House
makes sure underprivileged children and families were able to enjoy the holiday while savoring the special holiday treat.
Project Passover
Every year House to House distributes food to poor families for Pesach (Passover).
Project “I Care Goodie Boxes & Bags”
Special “care” packages are sent to the Israeli soldiers on the front line of troubled “hot spots.”
Project Help a Struggling Family
There comes to our attention a family that needs special attention for a short period of time as they struggle through some sort of
transition in their lives. In order to stay “off the street” they need, mainly, a little rent subsidy and food and maybe a
little help with a couple of bills. We are happy and proud to say that, to date, we have helped many including a family who were victims
of a terrorist’s bombing. The many recipients of this ‘family aid’ include:
- A single mom with a severely handicapped child.
- A single mom in poor health with a severely handicapped child.
- A single mom in poor health with two children all victims of a terrorist’s bombing.
- A family with a new baby whose mom was diagnosed with leukemia during the pregnancy.
Miscellaneous Projects
Used Refrigerator
A young man just out of the army was being joined by his bride here in Israel. The only thing he was unable to provide for them
was a refrigerator. A small used apartment refrigerator in good running condition was located, secured for a very reasonable price, and
delivered to their small apartment before her arrival.
Hospital Table Computer Platform
House to House designed and had built a special wood “platform” that can hang on a hospital serving table.
It holds a laptop computer positioning its screen behind a separate large regular keyboard providing universal elevation
and angle of access for a hospital-bedridden, immobile young victim of a terror bombing.
Wedding Reception
A young bride from a very, very poor family was to be married without any kind of a reception. The circumstance was saddening for the
bride but saddening and shaming for her father and mother. There was a very joyous, albeit very modest, little reception awaiting this bride
following her wedding attended to by very proud parents – especially papa.
Anti-terror Dog
An organization needed a partner in the purchase and training expense of a security anti-terror dog in order to alert and protect a
farm community from terrorists and their attack.
Warm Wear Project
Working with a wonderful donor who contributed high class, stylized, warm, winter, women’s outer wear was a great pleasure as
House to House distributed this clothing line to underprivileged women who could never afford to purchase such winter clothing.
Training
A man with five children continuously asked for monthly help in order to make ends meet. The man expressed an interest in massage
therapy. House to House provided the man with a scholarship to a state-certified course in massage therapy. Upon completing the course and
receiving his certification, the man has asked for no further assistance. He recently expressed that he is very happy with his new career.
Piano
House to House assisted in the purchase of a piano for a children’s music school. The school specialized in music
training as therapy for children who were child victims of terrorist incidents.
